Abstract
Atrioventricular Block (AVB) is a heart disorder that occurs when the SA Node to AV Node pathway (forming the PR interval on the ECG) is obstructed, then the PR interval is prolonged and requires PPM therapy. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of permanent use of a pacemaker in AVB arrhythmia disorders. This type of research is descriptive with a case study approach. The number of patients was 3 samples. The results of patient 1, had a PPM installed 5 years ago but the PPM was repaired again because there was a pacemaker malfunction with the same type, namely single chamber. Patient 2 had a dual chamber PPM installed and patient 3 had a single chamber PPM installed without any complications during and after installation. In conclusion, the success rate of PPM installation is that not all installations are successful, but there are several complications after installation caused by pacemaker malfunction, lead dislodge, allergies and complications during installation such as failed lead cannulation, lead dislodge, pneumothorax and hematoma.
